The King of the Golden River or The Black Brothers: A Legend of Stiria by John Ruskin was originally written for the twelve year old Effie (Euphemia) Gray in 1842, whom Ruskin later married. It was published in book form in 1851, and became an early Victorian classic which sold out three editions. This is a special centenary facsimile edition of John Ruskin's fairy tale with Bio-Bibliography Study by James Dearden the Director for Ruskin Affairs. A musical version of the King of the Golden River is also available on CD.
