Kevin Schafer is a professional natural history photographer and writer, whose work has appeared in all of the most respected science and nature magazines around the world, including National Geographic, BBC Wildlife, Smithsonian and GEO. He also works regularly with conservation organizations such as the Nature Conservancy and the World Wildlife Fund, and is a founding Fellow of the International League of Conservation Photographers. Trained as a sea bird biologist, he has travelled to all seven continents to document wildlife, conservation and eco-tourism issues. He was the 1997 recipient of the Gerald Durrell Award for Endangered Species Photography, and has been named 2007 Outstanding Nature Photographer by NANPA (North American Nature Photographers Association). He is also the author of eight books, including Penguin Planet, which received the 2000 National Outdoor book Award.
